Fueling the Next Generation of YMCA Leaders

Since 2007, the Triangle2 Scholarship Program at Springfield College has been giving back to the YMCA movement. "In our work with YMCAs across the country, we've learned that the one thing successful Ys have in common is strong leadership," says Tom Massey, CEO of Triangle2 Partners. To continue that legacy of strong leadership, Triangle2 created an endowed scholarship fund at Springfield College.

The first Triangle2 Scholar is Anthony Solano, a sophomore at Springfield. Anthony is a highly motivated and committed student who is passionate about helping others. He and others like him will help to lead the YMCA for years to come.

About the Triangle2 Scholarship Program
Triangle2 Partners developed the scholarship program in order to identify and support future YMCA leaders. The scholarship provides support for Springfield College students with demonstrated financial need, with preference given to under-represented students minoring in Y studies. The scholar must serve at least two years at a local YMCA after graduation.

Paul Katz, Director of YMCA Relations at Springfield College, says the pledge by Triangle2 Partners demonstrates the organization's commitment to the growth and development of the YMCA movement. He says, "The future of the Y is dependent on a new generation of committed, passionate leadership."

About Anthony Solano
A sophomore from Manchester, Connecticut, Anthony is in an accelerated 5 year Youth Development degree program, where he will earn a Bachelors and a Masters degree. He is active in college sports and will intern this summer with the Charlotte YMCA.
