Most of the people on the Triangle2 team spent years working inside the YMCA. We came to it for the mission, and we stayed because of the people. Even after moving into new roles, that heart for service never left. So we gave it a home.

The Triangle2 Y Service Club is how we stay connected to the local and global YMCA movement and give back through service. It is a simple idea. The Y shaped our careers, and we want to keep showing up for it, in our own communities and around the world.

Hearing The Ukraine YMCA story firsthand

A club is only as meaningful as what it does. Thanks to our teammate Helene Weir, we have a direct connection to the Ukraine YMCA, and that changed our sense of where we could make a real difference.

On September 17, at the YMCA General Assembly, Helene, Lori Swann and Tom Massey attended a session with Victoria Trofimova, General Secretary of the Ukraine YMCA. What she shared was both heartbreaking and inspiring. The Ukraine YMCA continues to serve families and children in the middle of a war zone. Many of those children have spent more time in bomb shelters than in school. That is not a figure of speech. It is their reality.

A dream worth backing

Despite everything, the Ukraine YMCA is dreaming about a summer camp. It would be a place where children can step away from the fear and the noise and simply be kids again. Anyone who has worked at a Y knows what camp can do for a young person. It gives kids room to breathe, to laugh and to feel safe.

The camp is still in the planning stages. Victoria and her team will let us know when and how we can help make it happen, and we will be ready.

What they need right now

The most immediate need is cash for general operations. The Ukraine YMCA runs on a shoestring, and every dollar helps keep the lights on and the work going. That is why we are taking part in the fundraising campaign led by YMCAs across the US and Canada, and why our club will make a donation toward the end of the year.

Join us

You do not have to be a club member to help. If the Y has been part of your story, or you simply believe children deserve a safe place to be children, we would love to have you with us.
