If your community is looking to build a new YMCA or community center, believe it or not, there is a science to building them right!  Too many communities have jumped into construction without consulting the data.  Data can help you avoid costly mistakes down the road.

Below are some questions you might be asking yourself as you plan your community’s next new facility.  Triangle2 can help!

How big do we build it?

Data is available to calculate what size facility should be built for your community.  Past, present, and future demographics can help determine the optimal size of your new facility.

How many people will join?

Based on population, competitors, driving distances, and other data, realistic predictions of members can be calculated to help you better plan the programs and offering of your new center.

What percentage of the members will be families?

This is an important consideration!  How a mom, dad, son, and daughter use a facility can be very different than an individual.  Know ahead of time what type of members you will serve to better help you create the perfect facility for your community.

How much equipment do we need?

Based on membership forecasts, including ratios of individual members and family members, type and quantity of equipment can be designed for your new facility.

How big should our nursery/child watch be?

Another vey important question, as some YMCA’s or community centers have limited their membership potential by not including enough room for a place for kids.  If mom and dad are working out, where will their young children be?  And is that area fun and engaging for them?  And what about the 10-year-old that is too old to be with his/her little sibling, but not quite ready to be in the weight room.

What programs need to be offered?

If you are stuck in just thinking about the same old program offerings, get un-stuck quick!  There are new group exercise programs developed daily!  Creative new kids’ programs are now popping up across the nation.  And fitness equipment is changing as fast as technology!  Don’t build a brand-new facility based on yesterday’s programs, put your facility on the cutting edge!

There are probably 100 more questions like these listed above.  Triangle2 has helped countless communities with their new facilities, and we can help your community!
